We have to go all the way back to April, 2007 to find an antecedent for this thing, an image as raw and stuffed with casual menace, an image as ripe with hostility for the world.
Renouncing every instinct, repudiating every natural impulse, the Hogback Mountain hog revels in a death-loving ecstasy.
He smears himself with barbecue sauce, the better to be cooked and basted. As he slathers it over himself, he smiles, at ease behind his Risky Business Ray-Bans. He might be applying sun screen before a day at the beach for all the concern he feels.
One ear flopped over his face in perfect imitation of a teen's wayward forelock, the hog laughs at himself. At us. At our feeble feelings of pity and disgust. They mean nothing to him. Not a single damned thing.
Why do they all wear sunglasses?
ReplyDeleteNo! Wait! It's so obvious!
ReplyDeleteThis pig... is BLIND. Why would he knowingly put BBQ sauce on his belly? Why would he wear sunglasses? That makes no sense! But a blind pig--perhaps with a sinus infection--could reasonably mistake a condiment for a personal care product! It's a just world after all!
Sunglasses are de rigueur, as they demonstrate the animals' utter lack of concern.
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious
ReplyDeletePork is great. I love rubbing the meat I eat. Hogback Mountain BBQ Is the best around. Only wish I could have the satisfaction of slaughtering the pigs for them... Get a life, go suck some lettuce or something.
ReplyDeletePre-sauced pork. I'd buy that.
ReplyDeleteSelf Basting Pooooooooork.... mmmmmmmmmm tasty
ReplyDeletePigs are great. There isn't a part of the pig that can't be eaten, and it's all SO YUMMY! I think there is nothing more beautiful that a whole hog split down the back and splayed out on a whole hog cooker, cooked just right with a crispy skin. So good, and you can even smile back at him as you eat the little fella.
ReplyDeleteYUM!
This logo is making me hungry. As do many others here.
Keep up the great collection of logos!
NOW THATS ONE SEXY SWINE!!!!! MMMMM, MAKIN ME DROOL
ReplyDeleteSuicide food is not funny, it's darn tasty though. Even more so when it applies it's own flavor modifications.
ReplyDeleteLittle too much bbq sauce for my tastes....I like to really taste the pork flesh I am biting into....mmmmm mmm good!!
ReplyDeleteSelf-saucing, sweet! I'm hungry already. Think I'll go cook some tasty pig, maybe a cow or two and a flock of chickens.
ReplyDeleteGonna have to cook me some pork now. Dang, that's making me hungry. I wonder where that company is?????
ReplyDeleteLove me some pork! Cooked low and slow is the way to go!
ReplyDeleteHi. I made this image. Thanks for the write up.
ReplyDeleteYour comments on the image actually made me laugh a couple times. Not out of disrespect for you or what you were saying, but simply because that's the way they struck me. For instance, I love Ray-Bans' Wayfarers and I think that's in large part due to Risky Business and The Blues Brothers. The fact that you called me on it was priceless. Especially with the Risky Business connection. But I think what really made me laugh is the way people can read things into something that might not have even been considered when it was made.
As far as the pig's positioning and the ear flopping, I actually found a picture of a plaster pig (I believe it's for placement in one's garden) in just that position, ear and all, and used it as a template for my pig.
Thanks again for the write up. Good luck with the blog.
Peace.
Haha, most of the "anonymous" comments are pretty obviously made by the same person.
ReplyDeleteThe angrier they get, the guiltier we know they feel about their diet decisions. Keep up the good work, Ben. :)
Am I the only one giggling about the guy saying he rubs the meats he eats? Yes I am immature.
ReplyDeleteI barely notice the innuendo anymore. It's so pervasive it has become like wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteGuilty about diet habbits? BBBBWWWWWAHAHAHAH These posts were made by many people because there was posted a link to another forum of meat eaters who will get a kick out of this. You all are pure entertainment for us while we think about the next animal we are going to eat.
